Four Fabulous Autumn Walks

Autumn is definitely here, and there’s no better way to enjoy it than to get out and about with your dog. Leafy walks are full of interesting smells and sensations for our four-legged friends, and getting them to investigate somewhere new will tire them out like nobody’s business!

Here are four parks around Ireland that guarantee you and your dog a lovely fall frolic!

Cavan Burren Park

This Coillte forest in Co. Cavan is a super mix of woodland, water and rock formations to keep you and your dog interested. Coillte forests are full of accessible trails for everyone, and dogs are allowed off-leash. However, be sure to have very good recall if you want to allow your dog to do their own thing – Coillte forests can be located close to farmland and livestock.

Killarney National Park

Killarney National Park is popular with tourists visiting Ireland due to its beautiful scenery and historical buildings. We love the Upper Lakes trail if you’re looking for a more challenging day out that will leave you and your pup cuddling on the couch in front of the TV for the evening.

Slieve Bloom Mountains

This mountain range is full-to-bursting with trails of different difficulty levels for both of you. They’re well signposted, accessible, and, best of all, their website is informative and kept updated.

Located just over an hour outside Dublin and Limerick, they’re well worth a trip, and your dog will snooze the whole drive home after all the excitement.

Phoenix Park

Phoenix Park is Europe’s largest walled city park. The park is sniff-central with a mixture of meadows, woodland and its resident herd of fallow deer! It’s a great option for the urban pup who needs some easily-accessible outdoor time.

This list of walks are only a small snapshot of all the fun we can have with our pups in Autumn. Be sure to keep them well-fuelled with an Oscar's Farm breakfast at the start of the day, keep plenty of water on hand for both of and send us any snaps of your adventures, we love to see them!
